Okay, so what if her now husband, music producer Swizz Beatz, was technically married when they started dating? Keys says it is a-okay, because Beatz, real name Kasseem Dean, and his wife R&B singer Mashonda Tifrere, were separated. At least, that’s what she told Essence Magazine.
Tifrere apparently didn’t agree.
When the couple first started dating, Mashonda, with whom Dean has a son, contacted Alicia and told her she was “destroying her family.” Keys never wrote back, insisting that she didn’t want to draw media attention to the situation, “I was sure that if I engaged it would become back-and-forth like some sick entertainment, which goes against everything I believe and would have made things worse.”
Things have apparently cooled down between everyone involved; now they’re just one big multi-mommy family, raising Kassem Dean Jr. and baby Egypt Daoud Ibarr Dean, together. Awwww.
