Houston Will Host Parade To Honor Iraq War Vets

It’s been three months since the Iraq War ended, but Houston-area service members will be honored in an official “welcome home” celebration April 7th!

The route is still being finalized but it looks like the parade will kick off around 3pm that Saturday and end at Minute Maid Park. The Astros will hand out 1,000 tickets for personnel in uniform and their families, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Houston isn’t the first city to plan such a parade. 100,000 folks celebrated the homecoming in January in St. Louis, the first city to throw a welcome home parade.

Everything should be official within the next week or so!
