Talk about some GOOD service!
Greg Rubar has been working at D’Amico’s Italian Restaurant in the Rice Village for 16 years. He recently lost his car in a severe storm just a few weeks ago, and he had been taking cabs and buses to get to work.
Then something amazing happened. On Saturday, he said a pair of regulars came in for their normal $27 meal, but before they left they handed him an envelope with $5,000 cash in it!
According to KPRC.com, after the generous gesture Rubar said the couple added: “We’re still going to come in, but we’re not going to tip you for a while.’ He said this is for you to go and buy a nice car.” Aw, tear!
One of the co-owners D’Amico Donaldson said, “It was a bit shocking to hear that. I was like, maybe $500, but $5,000 is quite a generous tip.” She said it couldn’t have happened to a better person.
“He’s an incredibly hard worker. He would work every shift if we would let him,” she added.
