I CAN SEE! My Path To Clear Vision at Berkeley Eye Center!

“Best decision I ever made.”

I can’t tell you how many people have used that exact phrase talking about their own LASIK experience. And now I get it. I couldn’t agree more.

I’m writing this while I’m on the air, and I keep staring out the window looking at buildings and cell towers in the distance I’ve never noticed before. Since getting LASIK at Berkeley Eye Center, everything is finally in focus!

(Pre-surgery chat w/ Dr. Caplan)

LASIK was even easier than I expected. And the results are truly INCREDIBLE. Five days later, I’m still in awe of how well I can see, and how quickly I’ve recovered!! (My vision is 20/15 now!!!)

1st laser I CAN SEE! My Path To Clear Vision at Berkeley Eye Center!

(1st Laser – creating the flap)

9 minutes. That’s how long I was in the surgery room. The first laser, which creates the flap in the cornea, lasted 13 seconds per eye. The second, which corrects my vision, was about 20 seconds per eye. Literally, less than 35 seconds per eye and CLEAR VISION for years and years. It’s unbelievable!

(2nd Laser – correcting my vision!)

When I stood up from the second laser, I could ALREADY see more clearly! It was truly shocking; I hadn’t expected to notice a difference IMMEDIATELY. They walked me to the post-op room and took a look to make sure everything was in place, then I went home to nap. When I woke up, I watched TV and didn’t need my glasses to see the screen!

(Post-surgery! With Dr. Caplan and my new eyes!)

Dr. Caplan talked me through the whole thing. He and the nurses counted down each laser and made it simple and clear. (I admit I was a little nervous when the first laser started, but once he got to “4 seconds to go, you’re doing great” it was a breeze through the rest of the surgery.)

No pain. Numbing drops (and maybe the valium) made it a very comfortable procedure. Even since the surgery, the only discomfort was a little dryness, which was easily remedied with artificial tear drops. But I’ve barely even used those!

(Walking out with eye protectors and my LASIK caretaker Kent)

Five days after LASIK I’ve been putting drops in (four times a day) and wearing protectors over my eyes when I sleep so I don’t rub my eyes and mess up the healing process. Otherwise, since Saturday morning (the day after surgery) I’ve been back in my everyday groove — with an exciting new view of the world!

I really can’t stress enough how EASY and WORTH IT getting LASIK is! And the folks at Berkeley Eye Center are the best. If you have any questions, I’d be happy to answer them! Ask in the comments or even call my desk number: 713-881-5913. I’d love to help you experience the same thing I am!!
