Health Officials WRONGLY Diagnose Woman With Hantavirus

Well this is one time where the wrong diagnosis was a GOOD thing!

According to KPRC, Montgomery County health officials said yesterday that the woman (along with 29 other film and crew people) were inside a home in The Woodlands while filming an episode of the Discovery Channel‘s “Hoarding: Buried Alive“, and were possibly exposed to the Hantavirus.

Turns out the original test came up with a “false positive“. After they ran a few more tests, results showed she actually did not have the Hantavirus after all. Whew!

In case you don’t know what the Hantavirus is, it’s an airborne disease that is spread by rodent droppings. Health officials said disrupting the old, dusty mounds of clutter inside the home could have easily released the virus. What exactly the woman is suffering from is not yet known, officials said.
