Ok okaayyyy, I get it. When you hear someone say, “I’m going to get a Double Double!” you automatically think of the fast food chain, In-N-Out burger, right? So I guess it’s understandable that the folks over at In-N-Out didn’t like the fact that Houston’s own Underbelly restaurant had a burger with the same name.
Well in case you didn’t know, In-N-Out’s “Double Double” (which is just double meat, double cheese burger), came before Underbelly’s did, to which In-N-Out sent a cease-and-desist letter to the restaurant earlier this week.
Apparently Chef Chris Shepherd had no idea about the other burger with the same name and a spokesperson said, “Chris has never been to In-N-Out. He just thought it was a good name.”
So here’s the statement from Underbelly on their Facebook page:
“The good people at In-N-Out Burger have taken offense at our humble `Double Double’ burger. So, from now on, our menu will feature the `Cease and Desist Burger.’ It’s the same burger–just deliciously legal and 100 percent Underbelly.”
Anyone wanna go grab a “Cease and Desist” burger with me?? 😉
