On Saturday September 21, 2013, you will have the opportunity to “live large” with the elephants at the Houston Zoo!
The Houston Zoo is inviting you to an “Elephant Open House” and there you can meet Methai, Tess, Tucker, Shanti, Baylor, Thai and Tupelo, the Houston Zoo’s four-legged friends who “live large”!
The elephants are housed at the elephant barn at the McNair Asian Elephant Habitat.
“Did you ever wonder what’s on the menu for a 10,000 pound animal every day?” added officials at the Houston Zoo. “Would you like to know what it takes to give an elephant a pedicure?”. Those questions and more will be answered at the “Elephant Open House”!
“During the Houston Zoo’s Elephant Open House, the state-of-the-art elephant barn at the McNair Asian Elephant Habitat will be open for exploration,” added the Houston Zoo. “Each elephant ‘bedroom’ in the barn will highlight a different aspect of elephant care. Throughout the morning you can meet the keepers who care for our herd every day and learn more about these majestic animals that call the Houston Zoo home. The Elephant Open House also includes a continental breakfast.”
