Have you ever wondered what the Astrodome would look like, say 20 or even 30 years from now?
The video above shows a “futuristic” look at the Astrodome, which is perhaps rather timely since the vote to save the historic sports building and venue takes place Tuesday (November 5th).
The Astrodome opened in 1965 and was at that time, the world’s first multipurpose domed stadium.
It was home to the Astros as well as the Oilers; however, no professional sports team has played there since 1999.
Since 2009, it has been closed to all events.
On Saturday, an auction was held for items turned memorabilia such as seats, turnstiles, squares of AstroTurf and seats.
Dubbed the “Eighth Wonder of the World”, the auction was held this past Saturday at Reliant Center.
Come this Tuesday, voters will decide whether to approve a referendum authorizing up to $217 million in bonds to turn the stadium into a giant convention center and exhibition space.
Will you vote to save the Astrodome?
