‘Lauren’s Lowdown’: Barbara Walters Announces Last Day On ‘The View’; Mickey Rooney Dies

Barbara Walters just announced today that she’s leaving ‘The View‘!

According to US Weekly, her final day as a co-host on The View will be Friday, May 16. The 84-year-old journalist has been with the program since it began in 1997.

In celebration of her 38-year career with the network, she will be honored with a week-long goodbye on The View, beginning Monday, May 12, ending in a two-hour primetime special highlighting her life and career on Friday, May 16.

ABC News Headquarters in New York City will also be named in her honor during a dedication ceremony this spring.

Iconic actor Mickey Rooney has passed away at the age of 93 on Sunday, April 6, after being ill for a long time.

Rooney had more than 340 acting credits to his name, and also had one of the longest careers in Hollywood. With movies like Blind Date, Death on the Diamond, The Hardy Boys films, and teamed up with Judy Garland for the 1939 film Babes in Arms.

Starring on The Mickey Rooney Show as a bumbling actor working to break into show business, he made a name for himself on TV.

He also played the controversial role of Holly Golightly’s Asian neighbor Mr. Yunioshi in the classic 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
