Atlanta-area high school senior Paris Gray was probably being a little too smart for her own good on this one…

She spelled out a controversial phrase using periodic table abbreviations in her yearbook quote, and was forced to sit out of a “senior walk” event. Paris was also denied from commencement speaking duties.

So what exactly did this message say?? The words read:

When the going gets tough just remember to Barium, Carbon, Potassium, Thorium, Astatine, Arsenic, Sulfur, Uranium, Phosphorus.”

 Translation:

When the going gets tough just remember to BACK THAT A$$ UP.

LOL!

So how did Paris’ mom react to this? “My first reaction was, you are such a nerd,” said Gray’s mother Zarinah Woods. A school district spokesperson told news affiliate WSB that “no decision has been made” about the commencement-speaking issue, which in these situations can mean “we didn’t realize this would be a big deal and are going to to reverse our decision without admitting we’re reversing our decision.”

I kind of wish that I was this creative in my yearbook! (you know, without the whole suspension part)  😉
