Just when you think she couldn’t beat the sales from her last record, she done gone and done it again!
Taylor Swift released her latest album “1989” last week and it has already sold 1.287 MILLION COPIES. In a week.
1.287 IN A WEEK! That’s insane!
According to Mashable.com, Swift sold 1.287 million copies from Oct. 27 to Nov. 2, making 1989 the first and only album released in 2014 to earn platinum status, the million-copies-sold milestone.
1989 tops this week’s Billboard 200, and it becomes only the 19th album in Nielsen SoundScan history, dating back to 1991, to sell one million copies within a week. Swift now owns three of those 19 albums with 1989, 2012’s Red and 2010’s Speak Now.
Billboard released the sales figures and noted that 1989 has had the biggest sales week since 2002’s The Eminem Show — featuring Eminem’s “Without Me,” “Cleanin’ Out My Closet” and “Superman” — which sold 1.322 million in its first full week.
Taylor’s reaction was pretty funny on Instagram, she posted this video:
