What Your Phone Is Doing To Your Neck

Your CONSTANT looking at your phone is hurting your neck. You knew that right? Looking down at your phone is the equivalent of putting a 60 pound weight on your neck. That’s the weight of an average 8-year-old or four bowling balls. That’s if you’re leaning forward at a 60-degree angle. At 45 degrees it’s 49 pounds. At 30 degrees, it’s 40 pounds and even at a 15-degree angle, it’s 27 pounds.

The human head weighs 10 to 12 pounds (who’s thinking of that scene from Jerry Maguire?). Tilting your head forward increases gravity’s pull. Not surprising that all of this is terrible for your neck and spine. They say you should make an effort to look at your phone with a neutral spine and don’t do it for hours at a time. I know, I know…it’s a drug and we’re addicted. I’m gonna go on facebook now.
