Bullet Train, duh! Rumors of this phantom miracle have been floating around the ears of Texans for decades, teasing us with it’s promises of travelling ease…
However, now, it seems those grinding the gears of this idea have finally started to gain some traction, making tracks over to Japan for a first-hand look at a rail line that could be a model for one here.
Houston Mayor Annise Parker, along with other city officials, spent their weekend in the Land of the Rising Sun (Tokyo to be specific) perusing the 150mph+ train lines and discussing possible partnerships.
The privately funded venture is between former Harris County Judge Robert Eckels, now a part of Texas Central Rail (the company working to bring bullet trains to Texas) and Japan Central Railway.

Laying out this railway plan is so severely past due, it has all but turned into an urban-Texan-legend (hey, I like the sound of that…). Lay the darn rail already and while you’re at it, lay one Easterly towards the Mississippi to a petite bien ville called New Orleans 😀
