If you thought you’d only have to wait a year for the “Fifty Shades of Grey” sequel, you can put those thoughts to rest. Author, E.L. James is requesting more control over the sequel, “50 Shades Darker” and Universal Pictures is hesitant to hand over the reigns. Although nothing has been decided, the two are currently discussing the possibility of James screenwriting.
Aside from James writing the script, other changes are in the works as well. Variety reports it is not likely director, Taylor-Johnson or screenwriter, Kelly Marcel will remain on the “50 Shades” team. If James takes over the script, this will be her first movie script ever, delaying production longer than expected.
In its opening weekend the film made more than $300 million worldwide. Will a delay in production match that or fall short for the sequel?
For now, it looks like it may be two years before we see Mr. Grey on the silver screen again.
