Jack Antonoff isn’t the only fun. member stepping out to pursue music under his own name. The band’s lead vocalist Nate Ruess has just announced he’ll be doing the same with his debut solo album, Grand Romantic.
The full-length will be anchored by Ruess’ recent single, “Nothing Without Love,” which doesn’t sound too far off from the singer’s discography with fun. That’s not a surprise, though, considering Ruess worked with longtime fun. collaborator Jeff Bhasker on Grand Romantic.
Bhasker split production duty with Emile Haynie, best known for his work with Kanye West, Lana Del Rey and Eminem.
As if a solo album wasn’t exciting enough, Ruess’ individual work will also be highlighted when he receives the Songwriters Hall of Fame’s “Hal David Starlight Award,” an honor shared by the likes of Taylor Swift, John Legend, Alicia Keys and others. The ceremony kicks off two days after Grand Romantic is out.
