Happy 57th Birthday NASA!

It was 57 years ago today that President Dwight Eisenhower signed the National Aeronautics and Space Act into law establishing the space agency that we know today as the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, or simply, N.A.S.A.

Their contributions to society since it’s creation have been priceless; from freeze-dried ice cream to smartphones.

After only eleven years in operation; they would put the first man on the moon. It was an incredible and almost unbelievable sight and they have been amazing us with the most incredible images from our universe and other galaxies ever since.

In honor of the agency that made Houston the “Space City“, please enjoy:
