What I Loved About The ’90’s: Music

Being 7/8 years old when the world left the 80’s behind and moved into the new 90’s decade, placed me   in prime position to be completely immersed in every genre, because I was basically untouched.

I was pure; an untainted lil’ babe, not swayed by undo outside musical oppression.

There was no difference between rock/soft rock/grunge/pop/hip hop…my mind and heart were open…

Musically, I was ‘Like a Virgin’,

And free to be in the ‘Wild Nights’ with Mellencamp and Me’shell,

Ride the ‘Runaway Train’ with Soul Asylum,

Play ‘Foolish Games’ with Jewell,

Learn of the ‘Bittersweet Symphony’ that is life,

I had soundtracks for the crush’s that had me ‘Linger’,

Or had a hold on me ‘Truly, Madly Deeply’,

Getting ready for school, ‘Every Morning’, my radio was on,

That massively HUGE ‘Boombastic’ Boom Box,

It was those ‘Good Vibrations’ that got me in the best mood!

You didn’t even need to ‘Give Me One Reason’

Even if my brother was calling me a ‘Wannabe’

It was how I wanted to live in ‘The World I Know’

And I’m not ashamed to say that I ‘Want it That Way’ again,

I want to tell the 90’s to come back ‘Baby One More Time’,

Because it was an ‘Unbelieveable’ time for music,

And even though those days are gone, please I know ‘I’ll Be Loving You Forever’,
