If you love coffee and you drink lots of coffee, then you’re in luck because it’s actually really good for you. However, let me make a disclaimer, yes it’s good for you but that does not mean go out and drink a trenta caramel frap.
1. It makes a great exfoliant!
Mix coffee grounds with coconut oil and slather all over your body in the shower to leave you with super soft skin. It’s especially great on your legs if you’re trying to combat cellulite. The caffeine tightens and tones while the stimulation will help circulation and improve cellulite over time.
2. Coffee helps prevent skin cancer
According to CBS News, a study found that those who drank 2 cups of coffee per day were less likely to develop skin cancer. “The researchers found that frequent coffee drinkers — those who consumed four cups or more per day — had a 20 percent lower risk for developing malignant melanoma than those who drank less coffee.”
3. Drinking coffee can brighten your skin
Coffee antioxidants can help combat free radicals and rid your skin of everyday things that can make it dull. According to Prevention Magazine, using coffee as a facial scrub can also help brighten your skin. “In a bowl, soak coffee grounds in warm, filtered water (coffeegrounds will sink to the bottom of the bowl), and add epsom salts. Rinse your face with the water from the bowl, then scoop up the grounds to gently scrub skin. Finish by rinsing with more of the water from the bowl. ”
4. Coffee can prevent heart disease and depression
Drinking coffee has been linked to heart health according to Mayo Clinic, more and more research suggests there are more health benefits than negative consequences to drinking coffee. “Studies have shown that coffee may have health benefits, including protecting against Parkinson’s disease, type 2 diabetes and liver disease, including liver cancer. It also appears to improve cognitive function and decrease the risk of depression.”
5. Choose eye creams with caffeine in them for better results!
Eye creams that promise to depuff usually contain caffeine because it helps with swelling. Tired and puffy eyes can benefit from the tightening and toning effect of coffee because it shrinks blood vessels and removes water content. If you have 20 minutes to spare, take some used coffee grounds and place them over your eye area and relax. After 20 minutes remove them with cool water!
