Three cheers for self-confidence and not giving a flying you-know-what about the haters. As T. Swift so appropriately sang, they’re gonna hate no matter what.
Girl group Little Mix, who rose to fame after winning the 2011’s The X Factor (UK), have dealt with their fair share of critics. In fact, one member of the four-piece, Jesy Nelson, even broke down in tears during a performance on the show after she read disparaging remarks written about her on the internet.
Since then, Little Mix has reached a place where they’re not going to let that negativity get in their way. Speaking with Yahoo, Jesy had a cutting retort about body shamers. “We just try to forget about any nasty comments really,” she said. “We like to eat food and so does everybody else, and if we put on weight we put on weight and if we lose weight we lose weight. Everybody has this preconception that you’re supposed to be perfect looking but nobody is perfect.”
Drop that mic, Jesy.
