Jared Leto Not Impressed with Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’

By Amanda Wicks

It seems like everyone wants to sing Taylor Swift‘s praises. Everyone except Jared Leto, that is.

TMZ released months-old footage today (December 7), which shows Leto and his Thirty Seconds to Mars bandmates in an L.A. studio listening to a few of Tay-Tay’s tracks from 1989.

Leto’s reaction? “Oh, I don’t like this at all. Next,” he said, after hearing the first few bars from the opening song on the album, “Welcome to New York.” Leto also listened to “Blank Space,” which he describes as having a Charli XCX sound, and “Style.”

Even though Leto wasn’t overly impressed, he did seem to appreciate Swift’s meter and pop-friendly time signatures. Still, he doesn’t hold back at the end: “I mean f– her, I don’t give a f— about her. It’s whatever works best for us.”

To be fair, the barb seems more aimed at her music and less at the star herself. Guess we won’t be getting Leto’s 1989 cover album anytime soon.
