Last night Rodeo Houston 2016 kicked off with a crowd of 52,050 jamming out to a great concert from The Band Perry, but not before seeing some seriously scary stuff happen during the chuckwagon races.
The race is usually a fan favorite, but last night one of the chuckwagon drivers (who has not yet been identified) was injured in an unexpected fall. The horses he was driving also took a tumble crashing into one of the sidelines, but according to the HLRS the driver was said to be awake and alert as he was taken to an area hospital. The horse is expected to be ok.
VP and COO of Rodeo Houston Dan Cheney said, “The wagon driver has been treated by RodeoHouston sports medicine and transported to the hospital for further examination. The horse went out of the arena on its own power. The horse was inspected by a board certified veterinarian and is expected to make a full recovery. It has been treated and released back to its owner.”
Praying for a full recovery for both that were injured, and grateful for the first responders who took just good care of them last night!
