Early in the Twitter feud between Kim Kardashian and Bette Midler on International Women’s Day, Kim had a very clear call to action for Bette: “send nudes.” Well, Kimberly, ask and ye shall receive. Bette posted a cheeky photoshop illustration of herself taking a “nude” mirror selfie, blocked by a large piece of cardboard. The sign reads “Like Kim, put your selfie to work…for a good cause! Join me…crowdrise.com…#StagesforSuccess.”
Midler @-mentioned Kim and encouraged her to retweet, saying she’ll put up 2:1 matching donations for the money they raise—together. Kardashian hasn’t engaged with the tweet since it was posted 13 hours ago, but there may still be hope. If it appears Bette can reach out to mend fences, why not Kim? Anything is possible.
“A few years ago I launched Stages for Success, a campaign to modernize outdated and dysfunctional public school auditoriums,” Midler writes on her CrowdRise profile. “We’ve completed several successful transformations so far, and are hard at work on our 2016 project, a fantastic performing arts high school where the auditorium needs a major overhaul.”
If you wondered what the end game of this loud, awkward, unwieldy social media spat was, you can help make it a good one by helping theater kids get a new stage.
