If Bernie Sanders‘ last campaign ad drew upon the past, his new one is very much about the present. A new ad for the Vermont Senator features Diplo’s “Revolution” featuring Faustix & Imanos and Kai. It’s a youthful shot in the arm for the Democratic presidential candidate.
In a previous ad Sanders’ campaign released featuring Simon and Garfunkel’s “America,” the video showed several shots of the American life, and used the classic song to convey hope and possibility.
Sanders’ new ad is all about showcasing the many supporters he has amassed since announcing his run for president. The ad includes video of young and old alike, who all gather to lend their ears, time or even their drawing skills to help Sanders’ campaign. Diplo’s track lends the ad a youthful energy, but he message is equally fitting. The song’s chorus declares, “It’s never too late to change our luck/ It’s a revolution.”
Diplo’s song in Sanders’ ad is a far cry from the number of musicians who have criticized Donald Trump for using their music during his presidential campaign. The Rolling Stones, Adele and more have all spoken out about Trump’s campaign using their songs without permission.
