Sara Bareilles will transform into Ariel for a live concert featuring songs from the Disney classic The Little Mermaid. The star-studded show will take place at the Hollywood Bowl on June 4th.
Rebel Wilson will join Bareilles playing the villain, the evil Ursula, while Darren Criss from GLEE will play Prince Eric. Tituss Burgess, whom you may know from Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, will serve as Sebastian while John Stamos and Scandal‘s Norm Lewis will portray Chef Louis and King Triton respectively. Along with the concert, the venue will host a bunch of fun family activities, including fireworks and a costume contest.
“I suppose this is the part where I say, ‘Dreams do come true,'” Bareilles said in a statement. In case you missed it, she recently performed “Part of Your World” at a production of the musical Waitress after technical difficulties caused a delay at the show. “I am truly honored and excited beyond words to be a part of a performance of one of my favorite scores and stories of all time. I’ve been pretending I was Ariel in swimming pools since I was a little girl, and now I get to pretend on a bigger stage. This is just fantastic.”
Rebel Wilson also considers herself a Little Mermaid “fan-girl” and said in a statement that it’s one of her favorite movies. “I hope to do the amazing Pat Carroll proud by performing Ursula’s song,” she said. “It’s just such a delicious role that I’ve always wanted to play.”
