‘American Idol’ Producers SUING Phillip Phillips For $5 Million

American Idol‘ season 11 champ Phillip Phillips is being sued for more than $5 million by 19 Entertainment, one of the big producers of the show. I wonder if it has anything to with the company filing for bankruptcy earlier this year?

TMZ claims 19 is suing Phillips for more than $5 million, saying he also owes for several other deals it has with him. Phillip’s lawyer says 19’s merely taking advantage of its bankruptcy status to block the singer’s fight to get out of his deal.

According to YAHOO, “19 Entertainment claims Phillips ceased payment of management fees to the company in 2015, after attempting to get out of his contract with them. At the time, Phillips argued to the California Labor Commission that 19 had violated state law by, among other things, making him perform without compensation for Idol sponsors.”
