The way that first responders give back to the community when there is an emergency are obvious, but what about this story of how they are affecting this young man’s life is a thing of beauty. Thanks for sharing this great story about your son Landon, Lisa!
Here’s the full write up from Lisa’s post:
My son is predominantly nonverbal and autistic. His heroes in life are undeniably first responders. We regularly visit our local fire department so he can visit his heroes and thank them for their service to our community. They are so unbelievably welcoming and caring toward my son. He’s even having a firefighter themed birthday party in the next few weeks and he has asked every firefighter he sees to attend! The day before his birthday party, we will be heading to our local fire department as well to bring goodies just so we can celebrate with the men and women in uniform that he loves so deeply!
Police officers are no different. If he sees an officer he immediately runs to them excitedly! We make it a point to regularly pay for police officer’s and firefighter’s meals and drinks just to say thank you!
If you are reading this and you are a first responder, please know that my family is especially grateful for you!!! Not only do you keep our communities safe, but you are also my son’s heroes in a way that he holds dear to his heart!!!#HoustonLove
