It’s no secret that Michael Phelps is a big Eminem fan. The decorated Olympian has previously told the press that he often listen’s to the rapper’s music to get psyched up before hitting the pool. So it comes as no surprise that the swimmer’s Sunday night (September 11) appearance on the TV show Lip Sync Battle was highlighted by an intense performance of the rapper’s “Lose Yourself.”

Phelps kicked off his battle by staring into a makeshift bathroom mirror with a black hoodie on. As he walked to the stage donned in loose-fitting jeans and Timberlands, he grabbed a mic and got the audience riled up with his spot-on rendition of Eminem’s classic. Midway through, Phelps was joined by men and women who assisted with choreographed dance moves. As he ended the song and dropped the mic to the stage, an American flag appeared behind him.

Phelps’ performance proves that everything he touches turns to gold. He swept Spike’s Lip Sync Battle: All-Stars Live Championship, beating out Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s Terry Crews, Olivia Munn and a joint performance by John Legend and Stevie Wonder.
