This is long overdue.

Chipotle’s menu has remained the same since the beginning of time almost. With the exception of adding sofritas, a tofu based vegetarian option, their meat choices have always been chicken, steak, carnita or barbacoa.

Until now, that is……

After testing it in Kansas City and a few select New York airport locations, Chipotle reveiled their newest meat, Chorizo!

The company began serving chorizo as a menu item for tacos, burritos, and any thing else you want to put it on just yesterday. (which also happened to be National Taco Day) Though it’s not set yet if every single Chipotle location, including ones in Houston, have also began serving the new menu option,  the company had this to say upon it’s official release:

“The reaction to chorizo in the cities that have had it has been overwhelmingly positive, so we’re making it available in all of our restaurants across the country. Our chorizo is made with Responsibly Raised chicken and pork, and provides a delicious new option that fits perfectly with the rest of our menu.

Made with a blend of pork and white-meat chicken, Chipotle’s chorizo is seasoned with paprika, toasted cumin and chipotle peppers, then seared on a hot grill to give it a perfect char. Chorizo is available in burritos, tacos, burrito bowls and salads and can be combined with other signature ingredients.”
