The holidays are in full swing and Houston is preparing for the festivities with several fun family events in the city.

There’s parades, turkey trots, shopping and tree lightings. Any event you choose, you’re guaranteed to have a great time!

H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade:

“Houston on Parade” showcases the city’s greatest attributes and accomplishments. Featuring Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard as Parade Marshall with special guests, Simone Biles and Simone Manuel. The parade begins at 9am November 24th on Lamar & Smith St.

The Uptown Holiday Tree Lighting happens Thanksgiving evening along Post Oak Boulevard. The event features “festive music by local groups; holiday characters including larger than life Santa’s reindeer; a special appearance from Santa; lighting of more than a half-million twinkling lighting on 80 trees and an incredible fireworks extravaganza.”

Houston Ballet Tree Lighting:

The Nutcracker‘s Sugar Plum Fairy will light the grand tree! Help Houston’s at-risk children by donating your gently-used books to nonprofit, Books Without Kids. Wortham Theater Center is located at 501 Texas.”

The Houston Zoo is tons of fun all year long, but Zoo Lights is my favorite time of the year! An evening at the Zoo with thousands of Christmas lights everywhere. SO FUN!! “November 20 – January 9, 2016 with more than 50 animal-themed light displays and 15 miles of tree lighting, 6 pm – 10 pm each night (till 11 pm weekends). Sip hot chocolate or listen to carolers surrounded by 2 million lights. Tickets are $14.95 – $19.95 each (depending on the night).”
